The Dojo submerges you in acting technique, movement, dance, and choreography. And then we put you on stage.

Gain industry knowledge in film/stage production, directing, writing and stage tech (lighting, sound, make-up and costume).

Time tested

BAM has been teaching the Poitier Method for 6 years.

The Poitier Method is an holistic approach to acting that teaches the actor to be 100% comfortable in their own skin.

Whether you are an energetic middle-schooler, or a mother of two, a solid foundation combined with high level training, is the core foundation of a well rounded actor.

White belt and Blue belt classes are held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4 – 6 PM.

Green belt classes are Thursday nights only, at 7:45 PM until 9:45 PM.

"Our students at L. W. Young are always so excited to attend BAM's Annual Acting Workshop! The world is going to be their stage. We've seen growth in confidence and capability when our students are called to participate in events and speak in class activities. The two-day workshop is an investment in our kids' future and we will see our next Oscar, Tony and Screen Actor's Guild Award recipients in our classrooms."

"They are the only artist development group in The Bahamas and they have done so much to help young artists. Bahamas Artist Movement has literally changed my life. I attended a workshop in 2017 and not only did I learn a lot about the entertainment industry but I also gained mentors who have pledged to help me along my journey - and that is the strength of BAM. I went to the workshop just to gain knowledge and I walked out with a network of some of the most powerful movers and shakers in the industry."
"I am so thankful to BAM for all the work that they have done -
They are truly taking Bahamian talent to the world."

"There are many amazing things that I can say about BAM, but what I will say is that they are an invaluable resource. There's no easy way to describe who they are. When I came into contact with them, I found;
1) a family of artists and creators who understood me uniquely,
2) mentors who pushed and challenged me to raise the bar, push boundaries, and live truthfully
3) opportunities to develop myself as a student, teacher, and professional actor.
I haven't had a day since, where I was not involved in the thing that I love the most. Thanks BAM!"

My grand-uncle, Actor and Author Sir Sidney Poitier, built a brilliant legacy paving the way for some of the greatest actors of all time.

Developed over 15 years, the Poitier Method is World Class. Filming for television in L.A., and performing off broadway, and off-off broadway N.Y., for years, I wanted to return home to improve artistic development in my country.

I brought along with me many relationships with top-tier actors, singers, dancers, choreographers, stage directors, film directors, light and sound experts, script writers, costume designers and stage builders that I’ve had the pleasure of working with, for and/or employing the talents of.

All of my real-world research coupled with the support of several American Universities, Conservatories and Theatre Companies – has been injected into the Potier Method.
